After a long illness, our dear Gregory Blaine passed away on Wednesday, January 27th. We were blessed to have him as a brother and friend. There is a memorial planned, all are welcome. See the invitation below from Dolores Chandler:
Dear Freinds and Loved ones,
I want to invite you to the celebration of life ceremony for Gregory Blaine. It will be on February 27th at 4:30 to 7:30 at the Pittsboro Roadhouse, 39 West St, Pittsboro, NC 27312 (click here for directions). There will be a cash bar, and heavy hors d’ourves.
The format will be a bit like Gregory’s open mics. It will also include selected folks we should hear from. Poems, songs, music and little thoughts. Please let me know if your interested in being on stage. I may have an overwhelming response, so I may have to whittle down the list. We will deal with that later.
I want to thank Greg Lewis for opening his establishment to us, and providing nourisment. That is very generous of you Greg. I am so appreciative.
Temple Porter writes to us as well:
I am compiling a binder of your remembrances—letters, poems, notes, photos—to give to Dolie and his son Gregory Jr.
So—please contribute from your heart and send me (email or snail mail) your fondest/deepest memories of Gregory. Also, please sign your work (unless you’d rather not).
I plan to have a copy of the binder for you to review at our 21st annual Gathering of Men in North Carolina this April.
My address: Temple Porter, 6717 Johnsdale Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615
